If you feel like life is noisy, you're not alone.
There's more content, more opinions, more notifications and more things we should be doing than EVER before. More ways to grow, more ways to optimise and more ways to be seen.
*Breathe*
And somewhere in all of that, it can become surprisingly easy to lose sight of what actually matters. Last week I started pondering on the words : the art of living. That line stood out to me while I was reading something, 5:30am with a coffee in hand, sitting outside before the noise of the day started.
Now the saying... "the art of living". I'm not talking about a dramatic, quit-your-job-and-move-to-Italy kind of thing. Or stop whatever is hard in life and just sit in a field of flowers. Although that sounds utterly peaceful. I'm talking about finding the art of living in the everyday of business and life.
The art of knowing what deserves your attention. Discerning what doesn’t. Making room for good work, good people and good conversations.
Choosing to do fewer things, better and deeper.
*Breathe*
Because maybe the art of living isn’t about fitting more in, maybe it’s alla bout finding clarity amongst the noise.
And I honestly believe the same is true in business. I meet with a lot of business owners and incredible leaders constantly being told they need to do more, post more, be on more platforms, follow more trends, make more content, automate more. More. More. More.
However, unpopular opinion in our industry. More doesn’t necessarily make a brand stronger.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do is strip it back and get intentional.
*Breathe*
I heard someone say recently "listen like its an olympic sport.". So, I believe the act of listening is part of the art of living.
My incredible team at Hey has always believed in being intentionally creative. Why you ask? Because when there’s clarity and intentionality, the creative gets wayyyy better.
Your messaging becomes easier to understand. Your content has a purpose. Your team knows what they’re working towards. And your customers don’t have to work quite so hard to figure you out.
Intention creates space for living.
*Breathe*
Space to think.
Space to make something worthwhile.
Space to notice the people sitting across the table from you.
Space to build a business you actually enjoy being part of and so do your customers.
And perhaps that’s where marketing and the art of living have more in common than I first thought.
*Breathe*
Neither needs to be louder.
Neither needs to be busier.
Neither needs to chase everything.
Sometimes, the most intentional thing you can do is decide what matters in life and give that your attention.
Less noise. More intentionality.
I really believe thats itself is an art.
